Data Researcher, Cannabis Industry (Virtual Remote)

The CNB Media License Database unites the necessity of lead generation with the functionality of a user-friendly CRM. It is a key resource for business intelligence and to connect with prospects in both the cannabis and hemp industries. Our platform contains information on over 50,000 licensed cannabis and hemp operations across North America plus international licenses and has been designed with CRM capabilities to streamline workflows and find prospects.

Led by a team of content and data experts with domain expertise in regulatory and corporate information, CNB Media helps journalists, regulators, researchers, business people, and investors understand and confidently operate in the evolving U.S. cannabis marketplace. Industry stakeholders use the database to easily access and make sense of the industry so they can make informed business, sales, and strategic decisions.

CNB Media is seeking a researcher to join our Team. This is a part-time, virtual telecommuting position. Graduate Students or someone looking to supplement their income would be ideal since we pay on an hourly basis. In this role, you will be part of a virtual team to collect, fact-check and analyze license information.

You must have proven skills to be considered for this position:

  • Collect license, brand and corporate data from primary sources
  • Scan news feeds for stories related to licenses
  • Research information from a wide variety of sources, not all of them online
  • Review government regulations
  • Fact-check legal, regulatory and financial information

 Requirements:

  • Strong business or legal research background preferred ideally with experience in cannabis, liquor, tobacco or gaming information.
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Excel, Google Apps (Docs and Sheets), Gmail and Chrome
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Independent worker, who requires minimal supervision
  • Time commitment minimum 20 hours per week.

Business Development Representative, Cannabis Industry (Virtual Remote)

Led by a team of content and data experts with domain expertise in regulatory and corporate information, Cannabiz Media helps journalists, regulators, researchers, business people, and investors understand and confidently operate in the evolving U.S. marijuana marketplace. Marijuana industry stakeholders use the database to easily access and make sense of the industry so they can make informed business, sales, and strategic decisions.

Cannabiz Media is seeking a Business Development Representative to join our Team. This is a virtual telecommuting position. In this role, you will be part of a virtual sales team developing new business opportunities through prospecting, networking and building customer relationships. 

Compensation: Hourly based on experience + Commission. This is a contracting 1099 position. Minimum of 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage prospects in telephonic and in-person interactions and deliver product information to the prospect.
  • Schedule online product demos for Cannabiz sales representatives
  • Provides advanced details to prospects during the course of conversation with ease and knowledge.
  • Use FreshSales CRM to accurately record details of your lead and sales activity.
  • Be dedicated to providing excellent customer service and to develop a professional working relationship with prospects and to effectively meet company objectives.
  • Attend internal meetings and trainings.
  • Attend conferences or events on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Ability to work at least 30 hours a week.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge, policies, procedures, contacts, and the hemp/cannabis industry; continual learning and training as required.

Requirements:

  • Successful Prospecting experience is a must.
  • Proven experience with outbound calling and following hard as well as warm leads preferred
  • Highly articulate and persuasive verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, retain, and articulate technical product related information, and provide unscripted responses on appropriate subject matter.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented with performance accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good business judgment and discretion to analyze and address sales opportunities.
  • Strong ability to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient use of (and must own) a personal computer, smartphone, printer and be familiar with Gmail/Google Docs/Apps, Chrome and CRM.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Independent worker, who requires minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
  • Cannabiz is an entirely virtual company, having no physical offices. Applicant must have his/her own computers and equipment as well as a high-speed connection to the internet.
  • Experience with FreshSales CRM a plus.
