Hemp License Information Now Available in the Cannabiz Media License Database

Looking for information about hemp licenses? You can now find it in the Cannabiz Media Licenses Database. The team at Cannabiz Media has been busy adding information about companies that are researching, cultivating, and processing hemp in the United States. Currently, hemp license data from 10 states has already been added to the Database, and two more states will be added soon. They are:

  1. Colorado
  2. Kentucky
  3. Maine
  4. North Carolina
  5. North Dakota
  6. Oregon
  7. Tennessee
  8. Vermont
  9. Washington
  10. Pennsylvania
  11. Minnesota (coming soon)
  12. New York (coming soon)

Hemp licenses have been classified in the Database based on three activities:

  • Cultivators: Licensed to grow hemp
  • Processors: Licensed to handle and/or manufacture products from hemp
  • Hemp Seed: Licensed in Oregon to grow and/or handle agricultural hemp seed

These activities are likely to evolve over time based on states’ classifications. For example, Tennessee characterizes the types of hemp processing, including extraction, decortication, feed, essential oil, and fiber.

For now, subscribers to the Cannabiz Media License Database on the Group and Enterprise plans can find these specific types of licenses by searching for those keywords in the database search box as shown in the image below.

Why Hemp?

In recent years, interest in hemp has grown significantly, and in 2017, 15 states enacted hemp legislation (Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, North Dakota, Nevada, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming). In addition, Florida, Wisconsin, and Nevada authorized new research or pilot programs for hemp. The market is already growing rapidly.

Experts have speculated that industrial hemp could become a larger economic driver than marijuana, and it appears this speculation could come true sooner rather than later. Just last month, Pennsylvania’s Governor Tom Wolf announced that the state’s industrial hemp program could expand tenfold in 2018.

As one of the oldest domesticated crops, the potential for growth in the hemp market is significant. Therefore, adding hemp licenses to the Cannabiz Media License Database is critical to helping businesses, investors, journalists, and more quickly and easily access the up-to-date and reliable information they need.
