In November 2020, residents in five states voted to legalize adult-use and/or medical cannabis, and one year later, only one state has made significant progress in launching sales.
It’s already been three months since the 2020 General Election. US voters elected a new president, Congress, state legislatures, and governors — most of whom are already settling into their positions for the legislative year. Additionally, five states’ voters made cannabis history by legalizing cannabis to some degree, either establishing medical or adult use markets, or in one case, launching both at the same time.
A year ago, I started writing Cannacurio blog posts where I dug into the “data vault” and shared what I hoped were interesting insights about the data. Topics included new hemp programs, violations as well as the more straightforward license tracking.
Next month, five states will be voting on seven ballot measures to legalize cannabis. A variety of proposals, including constitutional amendments, statutory initiatives, and alternative measures, could establish new medical cannabis markets in two states ...
Not only is it difficult to get certified as a medical marijuana patient in some states, it’s also expensive. As of June 30, 2016, patients could get medical marijuana in 23 states (including the District of Columbia), and all but two of them charge a registration fee to those patients.
