METER Group combines science, engineering and design expertise to turn physical measurements into useful information for cannabis and hemp cultivators.
Cannabiz Media recently spoke with Scott Campbell, CEO of METER Group, to learn more about how he and his team use the Cannabiz Media License Database to support their business development initiatives.
METER Group uses the Cannabiz Media License Database for research and target audience definition.
Scott explains, “The Cannabiz Media License Database has been great for us. We’d been looking for a place that aggregates information on people who are producing product and allows us to slice and dice that information as we’re looking for specific areas to target and communicate with customers. Because of the state of the industry, we hadn’t found a place aggregating the information well that was actually actionable for us before we found Cannabiz Media.”
Scott and his team also use the Cannabiz Media License Database for outreach and sales. “It’s been a huge help,” says Scott. “As we’ve launched our outdoor platform, we can go into the Cannabiz Media License Database and search to see who the players are in this area. We can specifically target them with a message that’s tailored to somebody who deals with problems of growing outdoors versus indoors. For us, the Cannabiz Media License Database has been a huge boon.”
Recently, METER Group acquired Drying Technologies, and in the future, the company will continue to grow and adapt as the industry changes.
“The industry as a whole is focused on growth at this point,” Scott shares, “so you see super high prices, 40% year-over-year growth in retail sales, and trying to fill this demand. But the focus is going to shift in the future to productivity and how productively we can meet the demand. The producers that succeed and thrive in that atmosphere are the ones who can continuously improve the productivity of their operations.”
That’s where METER Group comes into the picture. “We classify ourselves as a cannabis production platform, which means we do the whole thing” says Scott. But the thing we compete with the most is whiteboards and Google sheets. It’s calendars taped on the doors of grow rooms. We consider that to be the challenge we wake up to address every morning. How can we give people the tools that improve on those pieces that they have right now? And if we can replace whiteboards with task lists or feeding schedules with an automated process, that’s where we feel great about having delivered that product into a customer’s hands.”
